Hi, Pauline,
It needs well-drained soil and does not tolerate winter wet, so pond margins are out. I grow this in Southern California (it's a CA native) and it doesn't like much irrigation, even in the height of summer.

I have just purchased this plant as a pond marginal plant but reading about it it seems it requires well drained soil! Does anyone grow this in their pond or know if it tolerates being submerged in water? thanks
