Grow in wet, sandy soil in full sun. Easily tolerates flooding, salt spray, and salt wind. Excellent for use as a dune stabiliser. Quickly forms large colonies. Considered an invasive, noxious species in some introduced areas, particularly on the US Pacific coast.
