Species
S. quadrifida is a variable, upright, rounded, or spreading, half-hardy, deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub or tree with ovate to oblong, dark green leaves, often lobed when young. Racemes of fragrant, bell-shaped, yellow-green to cream flowers from mid-spring to midsummer are followed by large, orange-red fruit splitting to release edible, black seeds.
