Species

S. japonicus is a spreading, deciduous tree with oblong to elliptic, toothed, glossy, mid- to dark green leaves turning red or yellow in autumn. Clusters of bell-shaped, sometimes pink-flushed, white flowers bloom along the undersides of the branches in summer.
